WBCA COMEDY JAM FOR GEORGE 2014

Comedy Jam for George Slated for February 14^th    

Laredo, Texas – Laredo Little Theatre officials have announced details for this year’s WBCA Comedy Jam for George. The hilarious event is scheduled for Friday, February 14^th at 7:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.  Co-Headlining the event this year are Olivia Arrington and Ray Orta.

Olivia Arrington’s refreshing brand of humor has served as a great diversion for troops all over the world. Her routine covers subjects from male-female relationships to dieting to raising boys. Olivia has performed on Black Entertainment Television's nationally syndicated comedy show "Comic View" as well as BET’s Action PPV Step Up To The Mike,taped in Jamaica. Also SiTV's "InsideJokes and "The Latino Comedy Festival." This fresh face is coming on strong and is here to stay.

Ray Orta has always had the gift of making people laugh. He first took the stage wielding a microphone as a third grader participating in a talent show. Hearing the crowd’s response, he knew that the art of Comedy was his life’s calling. Ray Orta began pursuing a professional career in comedy at the age of 15 with a unique blend of Latino humor, impressions and stories of growing up in the barrio.  Since then he has had the opportunity to work with comedians such as Kristen Keyes (Last Comic Standing), Juan Villarreal (HBO’s Def Comedy Jam), the legendary Paul Rodriguez, and most recently Gabriel Iglesias amongst many others.

Laredo’s own Ponchi Herrera will serve as the event’s official host.  Ponchi has performed with Carlos Mencia, Paul Rodriguez, Gabriel Iglesias, and was featured on Galavision’s “Loco Comedy Jam.” 

All shows will be at the Laredo Little Theatre at 4802 Thomas Avenue.

The Laredo Little Theatre’s Mission Statement is to preserve, develop and promote the arts and culture in Laredo and the surrounding communities. The scope of the theatre’s programming varies in each of the following: theatre arts, dance, and music.  For over 10 years L.L.T. has produced “Comedy Jams” with local and out of town talent. During this same period, L.L.T. gave birth to their “Jam for George,” organization that stages rock concerts in cooperation with, and under, the banner of the local George Washington’s Birthday Celebration Association. L.L.T. s’ Jam for George has hosted well-attended concerts featuring the famed rock groups, Blue Oyster Cult, Jefferson Starship and Cheap Trick.
