Instructor: Rod Maxwell

Take control of the colors in your make-up kit. You don’t have to lug around a ton of make-up supplies or feel obligated to buy every flesh tone. When you learn the basics, you can adjust your make-ups with just a few colors and get that perfect match. This class will cover how to create and match flesh tones. From the creator of Flesh Master Color Game for the iPhone and iPad, training artists how to break down colors of the flesh in just a glance!

Instructor: Rod Maxwell

In this unique master class, Rod Maxwell takes you on a journey from sculpting to molding making, to mixing and pouring your very own custom prosthetics.  No prior experience needed. This is a two part class with NO break in between. Get there early and be ready for an intense workshop!

Part 1: Informational

The presentation covers different mold making and casting techniques used by special-effects makeup artists over the years, including materials used for molds (stone, epoxy, fiberglass, and silicone) and appliances (foam latex, gelatin, Pros-Aide cream, and silicone). This part of the class concludes with a peek into Rod’s pioneering work creating prosthetics in Virtual Reality using Oculus Medium together with Pixologic’s ZBrush.

Part 2: Hands on

Please wear comfortable clothing that you wouldn’t mind getting dirty (just in case of accidental spillage of casting/molding materials in class)

  • Learn how to sculpt flat mold prosthetics, even if you’ve never sculpted a day in your life.

  • Make a mold of your sculpted prosthetic in silicone rubber.

  • Pour your very first prosthetic with skin-safe silicone in your very own silicone mold, which you can then take home to use to cast your own prosthetics time and time again!
