Enter the ever-unfolding world of Bijuriya, a South Asian remix queen.
Night two of X Avant XVII: LifeWorld brings the Ontario premiere of Bijuriya, the alter ego of Montreal's music composer and experimental vocalist Gabriel Dharmoo. Bijuriya explores her cultural roots by representing the diversity of South Asian female identities. Code-switching between drag performance, vocal improvisation, original songs, experimental sound design and the porosity between singing and lip-syncing, this piece celebrates the artist’s Brownness through an array of unexpected talents.
ACCESSIBILITY INFO
918 Bathurst, is not currently wheelchair accessible due to stairs (two half-flights to enter the performance space, and one flight to access the washrooms).
