WSET Level 2 in Wine Award
Class Dates: Monday Evenings from 6:00 - 8:30 PM running from October 2nd - November 27th. There will be no class on October 23rd
Registration Deadline: Monday October 9th, 5:00pm
This 16-hour , multi-week, course takes place weekly on mondays from 6:00-8:30 pm. On the last day of the course you will take your exam. There will be one "skip day" where class is not held. We encourage students to use that as a study day.
This qualification is popular with wine and spirits employees and will give students excellent all-round product knowledge. The course is also suitable for the interested consumer. This intermediate level course covers the key grape varieties and where they are grown around the world, and introduction to viticulture & fortied wines. Students are taught how to taste wine professionally using the WSET Systematic Approach to Tasting.

This qaulification is intended for beginner to intermediate students wishing to learn about a wide range of wines or those seeking to build on the introductory knowledge gained with the WSET level 1 Award in wines. You'll gain knowledge of the principal and regionally important Grape varieties of the world, the regions in which they are grown, and the styles of wine they produce. Through a combination of tasting and theory, you'll explore the factors that impact style and qaulity and learn how desribe these wines with confidence.

- How to taste and describe wine using the WSET Level 2 Systematic Approach To Tasting wine (SAT)
- How environmental factors, grape-growing, winemaking and maturation options influence the syle and qaulity of wines made from eight principal grape varieties:
- Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio/Gris, Suavignon Blanc, Riesling, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Syrah/Shiraz
- The style and qaulity of wines:
- made from 22 regionally important grape varieties
- produced in over 70 geographical indications (GIs) around the world
- How grape varieties and winemaking processes influence key styles of:
- Sparkling wines
- Fortified wines
- Key labelling terms used to indicate origin, style and qaulity
- Principles and processes involved in the storage and service of wine
- Principles of food and wine pairing
