Event Description

with Hannah Chase of The Cast

Date: Saturday, August 25
Time: 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm
Location: Club Cafe
Experience: Intermediate to Advanced
Price: $40 (more on workshop pricing)

Borrowing some tools and tricks from scripted theater can make our improv more compelling, more exciting, and funnier! In this workshop, we will work to bring a bit of theatrical flare to our improv. We'll exercise and strengthen our ability to create compelling and emotionally-motivated characters; we'll work to commit unflinchingly, and we'll find new ways to use our physical space to aid in our storytelling.

About Your Instructor

Hannah Chase

Hannah Chase is an instructor and performer at the Magnet Theater and the Artistic Director of the Magnet's house team program. She first discovered improv in 2002, and has studied and worked with some truly fantastic teachers and performers across the country over the last 16 years. Hannah has created and directed a number of shows at the Magnet including The Cast, which plays on Saturday nights at the Magnet and which Elise Czajkowski (comedy journalist for the New York Times) called "One of the most exciting improv shows in New York City.... the perfect show for comedy and theater fans alike." Hannah has also performed at dozens of improv festivals across the country. Outside of The Magnet, you can hear Hannah's voice in a number of Truth podcasts. In her free time, she loves alphabetizing lists, editing films, trying on other people's glasses, learning about the brain, and reading and writing medical memoir comics.
