Event Description

STOP PLAYING DEFENSE.  TAKE THE OFFENSIVE!   The Seventh Annual WLN Leadership and Activist Conference, themed "TAKE THE OFFENSIVE!", will take place on Saturday, January 27th at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Tigard, Oregon.  A FREE reception with featured speakers along with live music and hot appetizers will be held the night before at the same hotel.  These conferences have become the premiere activist events of the year!  You will get the tools and inspiration you need to be politically successful and advance limited government principles where you live!

FEATURED SPEAKERS!   Among our featured speakers is Stephen Moore.  Moore is a founder of the Club for Growth, a Fox News and CNN news contributor, former Wall Street Journal Editorial Board member, the Senior Economic Contributor for FreedomWorks, and is a Distinguished Visiting Fellow at the Heritage Foundation.  Sara Hunt, of the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC), will also speak.  Hunt is ALEC's Director of the Center for Innovation and Technology and recently wrote an article entitled, "Who is in Denial, and About What?"  With "Cap and Trade" legislation being introduced in the coming Oregon legislative session, Hunt will bring some intellectual ammunition.  Bobbie Jager, a leader in the school choice movement working with the Cascade Policy Institute and a former Mother of the Year will be there and Noah Wall, Vice President of Advocacy from FreedomWorks will join them.  Finally, Richard P. Burke will speak.  Burke is the current Executive Director of WLN, Vice Chair of the Oregon Government and Ethics Commission, a former grass roots director for Americans for Prosperity, and the 1998 Libertarian Party nominee for Oregon governor.  The names of additional featured speakers will be posted here and on the WLN website as they confirm.

FANTASTIC TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES!   There will be TWENTY instructional breakout sessions organized along five tracks:  1) How to be an Effective Citizen Lobbyist, 2) How to be Effective in the 2018 Elections, 3) Advancing the School Choice Movement, 4) Free-Speech, Race, and Tactics the Left Uses to Silence Conservatives, and 5) Improving Your Public Speaking Skills.  Every session will be led by people who are expert in their fields!

FANTASTIC TRAINERS!   In addition to the featured speakers, confirmed breakout session trainers include Rep. Mike Nearman, State Senator Tim Knopp, State Representative Patti Milne, Greg Burnett, President, Burnett Media Group, Bruce Broussard, Owner, Oregon Voter Digest, Kathryn Hickok from the Cascade Policy Institute, Washingrton county activist Adam Mayer,  legislative aide Scott Jorgansen, and Le and Ann Snelling, Speech Coaches and owners, Revolutionary Persuasion, and Scott Jorgansen, author and legislative assistant.  The names of more trainers will be posted here and on the WLN website as they are confirmed.

AWESOME BUFFET DURING THE WORKING LUNCH!   WLN conference lunches have the reputation of being excellent!  The conference price includes a "Southern BBQ Buffet" to be served during the lunch assembly.  The buffet includes slow roasted carved beef brisket with carmelized onions and smoky pan gravy, bbq-d chicken breast with a cherry bbq sauce, macaroni and cheese, braised greens, bacon cheddar drop biscuits, southern corn muffins, chop-chop sald, old-fashioned potato sald, coleslaw, strawberry shortcake, peach cobbler, chocolate cake, and coffee, tea, iced tea and water.  WOW!  NOTE: Let us know in advance if you have dietary restrictions so an alternative meal can be arranged.

ADDITIONAL EVENTS!   At 6:30PM on Friday, January 26, the night before the conference, there will be a reception/mixer held at the conference hotel.  The event will include hot appetizers, live music, a no-host bar, and fellowship with people who support the ideals of limited government!  Every year, people have a wonderful time at this reception which serves to break the ice for the following day!

THE EMBASSY SUITES HOTEL HAS GREAT AMENITIES!   Every room at the Embassy Suites is a gorgeous two-room suite.  Rooms feature two televisions, free wifi, a refrigerator, a microwave, and all guests can get a free hot made-to-order breakfast.  There is an indoor heated pool and spa plus a 24 hour exercise room.  The hotel is adjacent to and within walking distance of the Washington Square shopping mall, but a shuttle is available.  Call the Embassy Suites to make your reservations.  Ask for the WLN group rate when you call 866-715-0006.
