Horticultural Therapy
Join Leigh Anne Starling, President of the American Horticulture Therapy Association, and Dee McGuire Registered Horticultural Therapist, as they provide an introduction to the therapeutic benefits of working with plants. This indoor presentation will provide adaptive gardening techniques and activities that can greatly assist those with physical, emotional and communicative challenges. Take home ideas on how to share the benefits of horticultural therapy in your home and community.

How many hobbies offer exercise, the beauty of nature and a tasty meal? Well, foraging provides all of these! Join Nick Spero in exploring Ladew’s gardens and forest for some yummy treats. Nick is a biologist and longtime forager who teaches courses on wild edibles for the Natural History Society of Maryland.

Back by popular demand for its fourth year, this wild walk through our meadow and into the Butterfly House will focus on the fascinating lives of honeybees, native bees, butterflies and moths. Learn about their life cycles and how we can support them. Led by local beekeeper Jim Zink and Ladew’s Butterfly House Manager Sue Myers.
