Formula Ford Racer Registration for Both Weekends

PVGP Historic Races at Pitt Race (PIRC) July 13-14, 2019

Schenley Park Vintage Races July 20/21, 2019

FORMULA FORD MINI FESTIVAL Encompassing both weekends most cars will be accepted ‘as raced’ per the rules of a recognized vintage racing series. Cars must have a log book to be accepted. All cars must have a Ford Engine per SCCA or Monoposto rules. Cars must run on vintage Formula Ford treaded tires.  There will be a class within the overall race group for most Formula Fords manufactured between 1969 and 1999.  General classifications will be as follows, with awards and podiums for all four car classifications at each event:

  • Historic Fords - First generation Formula Ford (Vintage Formula Ford) cars generally fitted with front radiators, outboard suspension and brakes.

  • Club Fords - Second generation Formula Ford (club ford) cars campaigned in 1973 thru 1981.

  • Early Modern Fords (Post Club Ford) – Cars manufactured between 1982 and 1989 with a distinct chassis mid rail on which the front and rear roll structures are mounted.

  • Modern Formula Fords – Cars manufactured between 1984 and 1999 with a ‘tub type’ tube frame. This classification includes the Swift DB 1 and other cars with this type of construction.

PITT RACE – JULY 13-14 We kick things off in grand style with a weekend of vintage sports cars, monoposto and historic race cars on the challenging Pittsburgh International Race Complex. There will be a dedicated Formula Ford race group that has a practice session Saturday morning and a qualifying race that afternoon. Race day, Sunday, has a short warn-up in the morning with the featured afternoon race where the winner is recognized in the Hofbräuhaus Winner Circle by the timing tower. Your entry includes the Driver’s Reception in the Conference Center on Friday night and driver/volunteer dinner on Saturday night.

SCHENLEY PARK – JULY 20-21  This is followed by a week of motorsport activities throughout Pittsburgh, capped off by the nation’s largest vintage street race through the stone-walled, tree-lined streets of Schenley Park in the original spirit of vintage racing that took place on public roads in the 1940s and 1950s. 75,000 fans will park show cars on the golf course and watch the races.
