Event Description

HARTBEAT ENSEMBLE'S YOUTH PLAY INSTITUTE

PRESENTS

WHAT THEY DON'T TELL YOU

What They Don't Tell You is an original one-act play that follows women of the global majority through inequalities, harassment, and assault, which leads to a group of women creating a movement. The play follows the movement and the experiences that inspired it -- from inception to a confrontation with city leaders at City Hall.

HartBeat Ensemble's Youth Play Institute is a professional paid internship in acting, playwriting, theater design or stage management for young adults between the ages of 16 and 21 years old; a program where youth are developing and expressing their perspectives about social justice and engaging in their lives through a political lens.

What They Don't Tell You is a live in-person theater event. Masks and proof of vaccination will be required. For more information on our COVID safety policies visit HartBeat's website HERE

HartBeat Ensemble will present What They Don't Tell You at Capital Community College located at 950 Main Street, Hartford, CT 060103. For information on getting to the theater please visit https://www.capitalcc.edu/directions/

Running Time: 45 minutes plus post-performance conversation.

Please join us for ENCOUNTERS: What They Don't Tell You, a special dialogue event that features small group discussions, led by YPI participants, on critical questions about the play, as well as specialist feedback and engagement. The Encounters Series is a program of UConn's Dodd Human Rights Impact Democracy and Dialogues Initiative.
