The Art of the Trio - Songs without words from the Italian Baroque
Sunday, May 11 • 2:30 PM
Westminster Presbyterian Church
2040 Washington Rd, Pittsburgh, PA 15241
Baroque Italy was the birthplace of the instrumental sonata. Born of a bold new style of music established at the start of the 17th century, the sonata developed to showcase instrumental virtuosity and emotional expressivity. This daring new music had the power to move the listener even without words.
Through the works of Castello, Fontana, Pandolfi, Matteis, Corelli, and others, Chatham Baroque delves into the vast and varied treasures of Italian Baroque music throughout the 17th and early 18th centuries.
