Cross-Racial Friendships: How They Work and Fail in American Society

Featuring Deborah L. Plummer, Vice Chancellor/Chief Diversity Officer at UMass Medical School & UMass Memorial Health Care

Sponsored by Rivers Casino

Deborah Plummer, author of Some of My Best Friends Are... The Daunting Challenges and Untapped Potential of Cross-Racial Friendships, will be discussing why it's difficult to form friendships with people of different races, how we can make those connections, and how they will encourage more meaningful conversations about race, ultimately lessening our ever-deepening racial divide.
