USA Diving is proud to announce the inaugural Superior High Dive Challenge in partnership with Festival of Sail Duluth. The event will be a landmark professional high diving competition taking place July 10–13, 2025. For the first time in history, the Great Lakes will serve as the stage for elite athletes diving from a towering 66 feet (20 meters) into the vast, cold waters of Lake Superior.
The custom diving platform will be constructed on Duluth’s New Sea Wall by Dana Kunze’s Water Show Productions. Kunze is a Minnesota native and holds the world record for the highest dive.
This four-day event will open on Thursday, July 10, with an exhibition showcase, followed by two days of official competition on Friday and Saturday, July 11–12 and a final closing show on July 13. The
competition will feature five male and five female international divers competing for the titles of Superior High Dive Champion.
Adding to the excitement are local Minnesota athletes Nate Jimerson, a St. Cloud State Hall of Famer and former House of Dancing Water performer, and Maya Kelly, a top-ranked U.S. diver who recently finished in sixth place at the 2024 High Diving World Cup.
The competition will be judged by a panel led by Head Judge, Aidan Heslop. Heslop is the 2024 Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series Champion.
“This is a milestone not only for the sport of high diving, but for the Great Lakes region,” said Owen Weymouth, USA Diving’s Events Coordinator. “Partnering with the Festival of Sail brings incredible
energy, and with a world-class field of athletes and the stunning setting of Duluth’s lakefront, this will be a one-of-a-kind experience for fans and families alike.”
All Superior High Dive Challenge viewing is included with a ticket to the Festival of Sail.
