The UVM School of the Arts presents the 2025-2026 Faculty Spotlight Event

Paul Besaw & Dance Tramp

UVM Theatre & Dance faculty member Paul Besaw leads the performance group Dance Tramp in UnSettled Domains. This original work explores the concept of “space” and people-place relationships via three two-person dance-theatre vignettes. These distinct yet interconnected works investigate how humans imagine, search for, and claim space, and long for mutually occupied places where collective atmospheres of beauty and belonging can be reconstructed. Is this possible? Are we kidding ourselves? Can we get there? Besaw performs alongside a fantastic creative team of artist/educators, including Julian Barnett, Hye-Won Hwang, Chong Ho Kim, Jason Lambert, and Susan Ourada. The project also includes design by Bert Crosby. 

This project is funded in part by a REACH Grant from the University of Vermont Office of the Vice President for Research and two Faculty Development Grants for the Arts from the University of Vermont College of Arts & Sciences. The work has also received generous support from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Johnny Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts.
