This Black History Month, dive into the artistic process of nine Artists-in-Residence whose projects explore themes of historical reclamation, cultural identity, and Afrofuturism. Sift through a selection of artist boxes to uncover test prints, notes, photographs, scale models, and production materials that reveal the artists’ conceptual and material approach over the course of their residencies.

On this tour, we'll unpack strategies of historical reclamation through the following artist boxes:

Jayson Musson: His History of Art, 2022
Renée GreenMise-en-Scène: Commemorative Toile, 1992
Sonya Clark: Monumental Cloth, The Flag We Should Know, 2019
