About the Artists

Unison Steel, a dynamic and innovative steelpan ensemble, was established in 2020 by a group of seasoned musicians from the Brooklyn steelpan community. The founding members, Marc Brooks, Noah Smit, Antonio John, and Sparkle Demming, had been playing together in various bands for over a decade before they decided to create a unique musical entity. Their vision was to set a new standard in musical quality and performance, while nurturing the unique sense of community inherent in a steelband. Unison Steel has since become a prominent figure in the Brooklyn steelband community, making waves with their exceptional performances and versatile repertoire. The band's unique blend of musical styles, which includes R&B, bachata, funk, kompa, and pop, among others, has set them apart from traditional steel orchestras. This versatility has allowed them to explore and innovate within the steelpan genre, creating a distinctive sound that is all their own. Since its inception, Unison Steel has had the honor of performing at prestigious events and venues. In 2022, they graced the stage of the historical Kings Theater in Brooklyn, a testament to their growing reputation and popularity. The following year, they had the privilege of opening for the West Indian American Day Carnival Association's annual Panorama competition, further solidifying their place in the steelband community. The band's leaders, who are also active players, are deeply committed to the success and growth of Unison Steel. Their passion for the music and the community drives them to continually strive for excellence, ensuring that Unison Steel remains a vibrant and influential force in the steelpan world. Their dedication to their craft, combined with their innovative approach to music, promises a bright future for Unison Steel.
