Look out! An invasive insect may be on the loose in our trees. Join Tree Pittsburgh on a search for the infamous Asian Longhorned Beetle (ALB). This insect has caused million of dollars in damage and tree loss in surrounding states like New York, New Jersey, Massachusets, and Ohio. Pennsylvania has no confirmed sightings of the beetle but we need to check our trees. August is officially "Tree Check Month" and we need your help. Come learn about the pest, and signs of its presence in trees, then go for a walk in the park to check the trees for any evidence of the beetle and enjoy the trees around us.
This event is required for all new Urban EcoStewards and is free and open to all. Learn more about the program here.
The Urban EcoStewards program is a partnership between the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy, Nine Mile Run Watershed Association, Tree Pittsburgh, Allegheny CleanWays, and Allegheny Land Trust.
