Trash Night - Double Trouble

"Some say may say I have poor taste, but to me I just like to accept movies for what they are," begins IMDB user staticb's review of DOUBLE TROUBLE, this month's Trash Night delight, and right they are, and especially so about DOUBLE TROUBLE. Peter and David Paul, better known as B-movie legends The Barbarian Brothers, here play Peter and David Jade, and once you accept that DOUBLE TROUBLE is tuned like this throughout—an expensive, exquisite canvas stretched purely to allow these two flank-steak anti-thespians, these Beef Golems, these muscle-cloaked labrador puppies, to act as little as they like and demand that the film surrounding them overcompensate for such — you realize that you are watching a cinematic classic.

Peter Jade is a cop! David Jade is a cat burglar! Peter nabs David during a theft! David escapes from jail! This happens multiple times during the course of this film alone; you get the sense that this is something of a ritualized cycle for these two. But one day, something goes sour — David steals something by accident; something extra-important to an extra-unsavory group of people. At the same time, Peter's partner becomes collateral roadkill when a minor extra-unsavory player tries to leak intel to the police. What brilliant plan do the FBI and police chief James Fucking Doohan AKA Scotty From God Damn Star Trek cook up? Why, partner the two brothers up and have them conduct an investigation, of course!

DOUBLE TROUBLE commits to the bit hard enough to blow up a car as a punchline. What else is there to say except "See you Tuesday"?
