Directed by fearless genre filmmaker Katt Shea (Poison Ivy, Stripped to Kill), this often-overlooked sequel to the De Palma classic is a chillingly timely look at the horror of sexual assault in high school. Inspired by the real-life “Spur Posse” sex scandal, THE RAGE stars Emily Bergl as the unknown younger sister of Carrie White, who has apparently inherited the same deadly powers and uses them to enact revenge on the sexist jocks at her school, as guidance counselor Sue Snell (Amy Irving, reprising her role from the original) tries to stop history from repeating itself. With a bitchin’ alternative soundtrack, peak late 90s fashions, and a cast that includes Jason London, Zachary Ty Bryan, and Mena Suvari, this film has all the atmosphere of 1999 combined with a premise that remains shockingly relevant twenty years later. It may be a sequel but it also stands on its own as a feminist teen horror that demands reappraisal in a post- #MeToo climate. – Strictly Brohibited
