The Wiz

This soulful, African-American retelling set to music of L. Frank Baum’s children’s novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz won seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical, when it opened on Broadway in 1975. All the familiar characters are there, including Dorothy, Tin Man, Scarecrow, Cowardly Lion, Toto, and, of course, the Wiz(ard), plus good and evil witches, and Munchkins. Directed by Tim Herbert, The Wiz features 56 talented ETHS students.
