The Pollinator Friendly Landscape: Beyond Plant Selection

with Dr. Annie White

Sunday, March 18, 2018 at 1pm.

A landscape rich with a diversity of flowering plants is not only beautiful but helps support the thousands of species of bees, butterflies, hummingbirds, and other pollinating insects we have in here in the U.S. However, planning your pollinator-friendly landscape does not end with your plant list. The layout of your gardens, layout of your plants, and your maintenance practices all affect pollinators. Dr. White will discuss a set of considerations for choosing the best types of plants for pollinators, plus how to use them to create the best pollinator sanctuary possible.

A native of rural Vermont, Annie holds a master of science degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Wisconsin—Madison and a PhD in Plant & Soil Science from The University of Vermont. Currently, she is the owner of NECTAR Landscape Design Studio & Consulting in Burlington, Vermont. She conducts research on native cultivars and also promotes pollinator friendly landscaping practices in all her design work.
