Cultivated in the foothills of West Virginia and nurtured at West Virginia University, the Karl Shuman Band is a captivating blend of accomplished musical styles and superior songwriting. Karl Shuman (acoustic guitar & vocals), Kurt Papenhausen (electric guitar, vocals), Orville Weale (bass guitar), and Mark Dinaldo (drums/percussions) combine their talents to create and perform music which is instantly admired; distinctly original and tremendously popular.
In 1996 the band began touring full-time, and since then, Karl has been pushing its distances further and further. With so many fond memories of Morgantown, the birthplace of the band, the music, and at that time a great hometown scene, there was a decision to be made, and it was a tough one.
Karl knew this day would come. The need to relocate and perform at new places in new areas was a must-do in order to survive in the music business. In the late 1990s, with a heavy heart, Karl and the band packed up and rolled south. They soon arrived at their destination, and began making Charleston, South Carolina, their new home.
The fan base expanded and they spent years in the tour van, going town to town and city to city. Grass roots was the way the band wanted it, and that's the way they did it. In 2010, Karl took his music even further, making Stockholm, Sweden his new home. It was time for Karl to decompress after years with a grueling tour schedule. Well, it didn’t take long after moving for Karl to start working on a new album called “Far from Near”, but not before he built a studio in his home. Karl invites you all to join him during the making of this unexpected album on his YouTube channel:
