Event Description

The Intelligent Homosexual's Guide to Capitalism and Socialism with a Key to the Scriptures by Tony Kushner
August 13 - 30, 2020
City Theatre Company's Mainstage Theatre, Southside
Pittsburgh Premiere
Directed by Andrew Paul and starring Sam Tsoutsouvas

Tony Kushner's amazing follow-up to his award-winning play, Angels in America introduces us to Gus Marcantonio, a retired union longshoreman and lifelong Communist, who feels confused and defeated by the 21st century, and has decided to end his life. He convenes his sister and three adult children (who in turn bring along spouses, ex-spouses and lovers) for a most unusual reunion at the family's Brooklyn brownstone. The explosion of reminiscences and recriminations that follow is truly great theatre.

The Financial Times calls it "a huge, generous and meaty state-of-the-nation work wrapped in a family drama....it's often witty, often wise and wrestles with where we've come from and where we go next...a humane, impassioned play."

$20 tickets for persons age 25 and under available at the door one hour before the show. Must show ID with proof of age at the time of purchase.
