DBG Bio

DBG (AKA The Dick Bauerle Group) was formed in 1982. The earliest incarnation of  the band debuted on National Public radio in 1983 via a live performance broadcast worldwide. Playing mainly club dates around Buffalo, the band eventually changed members and signed its first recording contract with MCA Records in 1985. Many songs off of this recording were used on the Nationally syndicated TV program  Entertainment Tonight for over a year. Notable alumni of this version of the group include Bob Volkman on keys, Tom Reinhardt on bass and the late and much beloved Ted Reinhardt on drums.

The band changed up again in early 1988 and quickly signed a new recording contract with Atlantic Jazz. The lineup now included: Bobby Jones on keys, Sal Andolina on sax, Jerry Livingston on bass, Eli Konikoff on drums replaced by Mike Caputy, and Dick Bauerle on guitar. The group played many hi profile featured gigs all over WNY.

The Atlantic CD, with this lineup, charted as high as #5 on Smooth Jazz charts across the country. Sales were solid both in the USA  and abroad.  The band also had a video which played on VH1’s Sunday evening Jazz show. But by 1990,  the Smooth Jazz Era began to wane and Atlantic Records discontinued this branch of their company. The band decided it was best to do likewise.

But,  remembering the great times and great music- there was always talk of doing one last final performance together.  And this is that time- just over 25 years after the final performance of the most successful  “Atlantic” version of the  band. And it will happen with that band intact on  Wednesday March 9th at the famous Sportsman Tavern- the undisputed home of great music in WNY. And the band…..will be ready!
