Thank you for purchasing tickets for the Daily American’s Picnic with the Elephants on Saturday, May 5, 2018, at the International Conservation Center in Fairhope. This is a unique benefit for readers of the Daily American. All proceeds from the event benefit the Salvation Army’s Heating Assistance Program in Somerset County.
You will be enlightened about the ongoing research that is being done with African elephants. In addition, there will be a variety of other animals from the Pittsburgh Zoo will be on display at this 700-acre ranch.
A catered picnic-style lunch will be provided. T-Shirts are now available! CLICK HERE TO ORDER Sales end Monday, April 9.
TOURS: There will be short tours of the elephants in the fields every 45 minutes. Because of the large response, you are only allowed to take the tour that you registered for when purchasing your tickets. Your ticket is the enclosed color-coded wristband(s). Each tour time has a unique color of wristband. (See back of this letter for a chart about wristbands and coordinating times.) Because this is a research facility, the ICC does NOT allow photography of the elephants. Please be respectful of the ICC’s guidelines.
PLAN TO EAT: The gates to the ICC open at 9 a.m. Those taking the morning tours should plan to eat after taking their tour and those participating in the afternoon tours should come early and eat before their wagon ride. You should plan on being at the facility about two and half hours for your tour, meal and other attractions.
SILENT AUCTIONS: There are two silent auctions planned. The first winners will be an- nounced at 12:30 and the second auction ends at 3:30 p.m. Remember the proceeds from this event benefit Somerset County residents who are having trouble heating their homes during our cold winters. Bring your checkbook or credit card.
CRAFTS: Plenty of crafts and entertainment are also planned for the children. Dress properly for the weather conditions. The event will be held rain or shine.
THANK YOU: Thank you for your participation in this great fund-raiser and we hope you en- joy your day at the ICC. The Daily American thanks the staff of the International Conservation Center and Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium for opening their facility to the public for this unique event.
