Season 6 Chamber Concert: Martin Davids, Violin
Sunday, March 27th 2022 at 7 pm
Epiphany Center for the Arts (Chicago)
With the onset of the pandemic and the inherent social distance of solo violin performance, Martin Davids set himself a solo mission: to create a program made of musical movements he truly enjoyed playing, no filler.
The idea of combining movements by different composers and cobbling together a suite or sonata has always appealed to Martin. As much as he loves entire works by many composers, there are certain movements from a variety of pieces that truly speak to his soul - stitching them together into cohesive musical pieces presented a delightful challenge.
This performance includes many unrecorded gems, including the Fantasia (Henry Eccles), the L’abbé variations (Joseph-Barnabé Saint-Sevin), and Martin’s original Chaconne.
