Survival Camp (7th Grade)

Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy's popular summer camps are unique, age-specific programs held in beautiful Frick Park. Summer camps will be making an exciting return to the Frick Environmental Center in 2017!

Nothing gets kids moving and learning outdoors like summer camp. Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy summer camps give children the opportunity to experience nature firsthand. Implemented by a knowledgeable, passionate staff of educators, camp activities build upon the curiosity and joy inherent in all kids as they explore the natural world around them.

Campers will learn skills such as shelter and fire building; finding water and food; whittling; and outdoor preparedness. This camp emphasizes teamwork, decision-making, and outdoor familiarity using age-appropriate strategies.

Survival Camp for children finishing 7th grade is offered June 26 - June 30. Friday session will be extended until 11pm.

Refund policy

• A full refund of registration fees will be issued if notification is received at least six weeks prior to the first day of camp.


• If camp is less than six weeks away, refunds will be issued upon the following basis:




• A 50% refund will be issued if notification is received at least one month prior to the first day of camp.


• NO REFUNDS will be issued within one month of the first day of camp, or after camp session has begun.


• In case of medical emergency, please contact us for refund options.




• Refunds may take up to four weeks to process.

Camp Experience

• All camps are outdoors except in cases of extreme weather.


• We provide a fun and interesting camp experience for everyone, regardless of ability.


• Please identify any special accommodation(s) for your child(ren) with mobility, sensory, or cognitive challenges. Please note that we can only provide accommodations with advance notice. In addition, we can only make accommodations that will not change the nature or scope of the program.


• Please include any requests or information you feel is pertinent on your application and we will discuss appropriate and reasonable accommodations with you.
