Join Rivers of Steel Arts aboard the Explorer riverboat for a sunset photo safari on the Monongahela River! Capture your own unique image of Pittsburgh industry and topography from water level on this three-hour photographic excursion. While traveling the mighty Monongahela, safari-goers can expect views of the Carrie Furnaces National Historic Landmark, the Edgar Thomson Steel Works and multiple "hot metal" bridges. Lucky attendees may even catch a glimpse of the famous bald eagle family nesting between Homestead and South Side neighborhoods. Returning westward into the setting sun, attendees will experience majestic views of the Mon Valley in twilight, complete with the silhouette of bridges cast against the fading skyline. Photo safaris on Explorer are led by Ivette Spradlin, a Cuban-American photographer, video artist and educator who lives and works in Pittsburgh. Light refreshments will be provided during the safari.
