Event Description

(1969) dir George Roy Hill w/Robert Redford, Paul Newman, Katharine Ross [110 min; 35mm]

It has been a bad month for film and television personalities – we’ve lost creators, directors, cinematographers, and more – but one loss that hits a bit harder than others is the great screenwriter and author William Goldman. His screenwriting credits from the 1970s alone include All The President’s Men, Marathon Man, Papillon, and the Stepford Wives and this Oscar winning 1969 revisionist Western really started that run. With two ridiculously charismatic leading men, Goldman and company set out to disassemble almost every old-school Western trope and, in the process, they built a whole new model for Hollywood heroes – flawed, flailing, sometimes failing, but charming, adventurous, and, in a way, virtuous all the same.

A "Double Feature" ticket additionally allows admission into the 9:30 PM screening of THE PRINCESS BRIDE. No additional purchase is necessary.
