STORYTELLING WORKSHOP WITH JON BENNETT
In this workshop we’ll share stories, break them down and dissect the process of modern storytelling. We will look at ways to generate stories, find the appropriate structure and learn what it takes to tell an entertaining story or even how to create an entire storytelling show of your own!
Bring a laptop (or pen and paper) and, if you have one, a short (you’d like to work on. This will be an open, supportive environment with no experience necessary and no obligation to perform.
The workshops will conclude with a curated Storytelling performance at Curious Comedy on Friday, September 16th at 9:30PM where workshop attendees will be able to present their stories to a live audience hosted by Jon Bennett.

Jon Bennett is a world renowned comedic storyteller and 7 X JUST FOR LAUGHS AWARD nominee.
Jon’s comedy career began in his homeland Australia, and after 18 years in the business he is now known as one of the most prolific storyteller-comedians touring the world.
With a total of 8 one-hour-long individual comedy shows and appearing in over 120 festivals, Jon is constantly performing across the globe making people laugh through exceptional comedic storytelling.
He has received multiple 5 star reviews in reputable publications world wide and won awards such as Funniest Show Award in the London Fringe, Critics Choice Award for Best Solo Show at the Orlando Fringe and a Golden Gibbo Award nomination at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
He has performed at a number of prestigious festivals such as the Edinburgh Fringe, Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Just For Laughs in Montreal and multiple times for the illustrious Moth Main Stage Storytelling in the USA, as well as having his work published in print and distributed world-wide for 2 New York Times Best Sellers: Occasional Magic (2019) and How to Tell a Story (2022).
Jon has performed in such distinguished venues such as the Paramount Theatre in Austin, The Palace Theatre in LA, Thebarton Theatre in Adelaide, and The Great Hall at Cooper Union in New York. Stages that have housed hugely famous bands and comedians to Presidents Lincoln and Obama.
After 10 years of constant touring Jon now calls Portland, Oregon home.

- This class will be in person at Curious Comedy Theater. For everyone’s safety ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST BE VACCINATED and be willing to show proof of vaccination in the form of their vaccination card.
