Stone Barns Presents: Frances Palmer & Kiva Motnyk

Please join us for an event highlighting our collaboration with Object & Thing and the launch of the Gallery at Stone Barns. We will be joined by Object & Thing’s Founder and Creative Director Abby Bangser as she introduces potter and gardener Frances Palmer and textile artist Kiva Motnyk, who are featured in the current exhibition. 

Each artist will offer virtual presentations and share their works, creative process, and the role that ecology plays in their practice. The workshop will also include a virtual tour of the Gallery.

Conversation with Frances Palmer
11:00am - 12:00pm EST 

Frances Palmer’s ceramic works have an incredible range and a brilliantly integral relationship with horticulture and floral design. For the current exhibition at Stone Barns Center, Frances created stoneware pitchers of different sizes and forms, fired in her wood kiln and finished with traditional Chinese-style glazes. Frances will share an expanded presentation of her works and her connection to gardening, as well as a virtual tour of the gallery and her pieces on display.

Conversation with Kiva Motnyk
12:30pm - 1:30pm 

For the current exhibition at Stone Barns Center, Kiva created linen napkins and table runners dyed with botanical materials from the farm and used dried flowers for steaming and hapazome (flower pounding). Kiva will share an expanded presentation of other examples of her work and her connection to ecological influence. The session will conclude with a virtual tour of the Gallery and Kiva’s pieces on display.

All sessions will be recorded and shared with registrants.
