Event Description
The Implementing and Managing a STEAM and Coding Program with SAM Labs training originally scheduled for March 14 is going digital. Join us via Zoom on Tuesday, May 12 and Thursday, May 14 from 2:30 – 5:30p for this class for 6 STEM clock hours.

More details to follow.

Technology is all around us: websites, apps, smart devices and hardware. Without it, our world would be much different. Computer science and coding is becoming an integral part of the job landscape, but our future workers aren’t meeting the demand. By giving kids an introduction to coding in primary and secondary education, it can give them the confidence and skills to consider taking courses later in their educational career. More and more school districts are turning to supplement their technology plans with a true computer science and coding component to equip their students for academic achievement and success in either their post-secondary education or career.

In this Professional Development session, you will develop essential basic coding skills and understanding, and then explore appropriate strategies for implementing programs in your own organizations. We will be using SAM Labs: an engaging, hands-on tool that can elevate your computer science skills based on a combination of wireless hardware blocks, intuitive coding platforms, and standards-aligned lessons. This tool is a powerful starting point that spans across K-8 in skills and content that is also perfect for coding beginners. With hands-on coding and collaborative brainstorming, this training session will give you the skills, ideas and blueprints to take back and implement.

STEM clock-hours will be available.
