Travel into the heart of a mysterious underground library in the new novel by the best-selling author of The Night Circus.
Inside a strange book that tells fantastical tales of pirates and painters, Zach, a graduate student in Vermont, is surprised to discover a story about his own childhood. The book, stumbled across in the stacks of his college library, sends him on a hunt that leads him through a doorway to a vast ancient library, hidden far below the surface of the earth. As Zach travels the tunnels and stairways of this otherworldly labyrinth, an adventure unfolds in a place of lost cities and seas as stories are whispered across time by the dead.
Erin Morgenstern, who wrote the book in part within the very halls of The New York Public Library, returns to discuss The Starless Sea with novelist Kelly Braffet.
