Creative St. Augustine Speaker Series: Leslee F. Keys, PhD

Henry Flagler’s Hotel Ponce de Leon: The Myth and the Marvel of the Hotel Ponce de Leon

Join the Lightner Museum for a Gilded Age lecture celebrating “the Modern Wonder of the Ancient World” – the Hotel Ponce de Leon.  Flagler College professor and author, Dr. Leslee Keys will present an engaging lecture that defines Henry Flagler’s impact on Florida’s Ancient City. The Spanish Renaissance Revival resort hotel, conceived by industrialist and entrepreneur Henry Flagler, forever changed St. Augustine’s skyline. Flagler’s vision transformed a post-Reconstruction small southern town into a destination.  Flagler is credited as the “Father of Modern Florida” for his efforts along the Atlantic coast of the sunshine state that launched Florida into the 20th century. Following her engaging presentation, Dr. Keys will be available to answer questions and to sign copies of her book “Hotel Ponce De Leon - The Rise, Fall, and Rebirth of Flagler’s Gilded Age Palace.” Reservations are required as space is limited.
