The pandemic has had a profound impact on all of us but perhaps none more so than seniors. With vaccinations underway and light at the end of the tunnel, what will be the lasting impacts on older adults? How has a year of isolation impacted the physical health, cognitive abilities and mental health of seniors living independently in our community? What resources are available to older adults and their caregivers in Chicagoland?

Join WBEZ midday anchor Lisa Labuz, elder members of our community, medical professionals, and senior care experts as they discuss the impact of the pandemic. The conversation will focus on elders living in group facilities, like nursing homes, as well as the physical and cognitive affects isolation has had on seniors living independently and with caregivers in the community.

This virtual event concludes a five-part series called COVID Conversations that connected Chicagoans to resources to help them become informed and make it through the pandemic. Each hour-long event featured a WBEZ host in conversation with experts, answering questions submitted by the public. Join us for this event and be sure to submit your vaccine questions via our survey. We’ll get to as many as we can during the event and may use your questions to drive our ongoing reporting on COVID-19.
