TEEN IMPROV CLASS

Sundays 2:30pm – 5:00pm

Welcome to our Comedy Playground! Arcade Academy Kids Comedy Classes offer teens and tweens a weekly exploration of improv comedy basic skills, offered as six 2.5-hour classes ages 9 to 18. Perfect for everyone from the aspiring actor, to the class clown, to the thoughtful observer–Kids Comedy Classes are open to all personalities and experience levels! Improvisation isn’t just for future comedians. Kids will gain confidence in navigating challenges, public speaking, critical thinking, and working as a team, all while laughing and playing fun improv games (similar to those seen on TV’s Whose Line Is It Anyway?)

In this six week course, students aged 14-17 will learn and practice the basic fundamentals of improvisational comedy. Using exercises and games, they will explore stage performance, storytelling, and ensemble collaboration. Students will build skills in the art of “yes, and” (agreement and extension) in a positive, supportive environment as participants work as a team to put together a show. All exercises used during class are designed to further your child’s ability to feel comfortable on stage, enhance their social awareness and creative thinking, and give them a boost in their confidence, all while having lots of fun! The course will conclude with a student performance at the theater. No prior improv experience is required.
