Event Description

Welcome to Rose Weekend!

Please join us on June 8th and 9th from 10 am to 3 pm to experience the blooming Rose Garden and to spend some time in the fresh air!

Certain garden-centric events, experiences, and lectures are available for free! Registration is required. During the weekend, local plein air painters have been invited to interpret our inspirational landscape. They will be located throughout the property!

Green Scene: Ask the Experts!

Visit our interactive area of local gardening experts on hand to offer practical advice.  Whether you’re a novice gardener or an experienced green thumb, join like-minded community members in sharing a passion for plants.  Learn how to support pollinators, which natives best suit your site, how to kickstart compost, and which flowers make the best backyard-to-table bouquets.  Our Green Scene experts can answer questions and exchange information about everything from garden design to sustainable landscaping practices. Participants include Ardsley Pollinator Pathway, Hudson Compost Co., Seeds of Design garden columnist/designer Shoba Vanchiswar, Seed-on-Hudson flower farmer Katie Tolson, and Lyndhurst’s landscape curator. Rain Plan for Ask the Experts: Carriage House Tent

Mock cocktails from Apero Vespa and ice cream from Penny Lick will be available as refreshments! (These might be cash-only!)

Helen Gould roses will be for sale in the Courtyard:

Historically, this pink Tea rose is a sister to the “Helen Gould” rose, the mention of which can be traced to early 20th-century gardening catalogs and magazines.  The “Helen Gould” rose, described as “watermelon” colored and popular in its time, was later renamed “Red Maman Cochet.”  Of the five Maman Cochet sister roses (pink, yellow, crimson, white, and red) only the white and pink varieties exist today.  During her time at Lyndhurst, Helen Gould’s rose garden was full of pink rose blooms. Enjoy yours!
