Rootwire Transformational ARTS Festival returns to Ohio June 7-10
The Polish Ambassador, Minnesota, Wildlight, Boombox, Yheti among headliners!

POMEROY, Ohio (April 2018) – Rootwire Transformational ARTS Festival is back with a musical lineup sure to please the bass head and feel-good festy lover in all of us! With musical artists ranging from The Polish Ambassador to Minnesota to Wildlight to Boombox to Yheti, Rootwire brings a level of fun and diversity not found at any other Midwest festival.

Now established in its eighth year, Rootwire’s traditional focus on up-and-coming musical acts has evolved to incorporate heavy hitters in the bass and experimental music scenes, while remaining true to its emphasis on education, community, wellness, and family through the offering of numerous workshops and on-site activities.

In a market where the same entertainers tend to appear again and again, Rootwire’s 2018 musical lineup is deliciously fresh. A Thursday night pre-party will host the experimental styles of Yheti, Toadface, Roevy and more. West Coast master of dance vibes The Polish Ambassador will be returning on Friday this year with his new live band experience, The Diplomatic Scandal, as part of an exclusive Jumpsuit Records Midwest Showcase that also features Wildlight, Ayla Nereo and Ryan Herr. Saturday night will feature a Cumulus Entertainment Main Stage Takeover, featuring the unmistakable sounds of experimental bass music pioneers Minnesota, Boombox, Phutureprimitive, Russ Liquid Test, Exmag and more! Rootwire will also provide a Coffee House Stage highlighting solo and acoustic works of some of the region’s best performers.

Two main stages, combined with live art and performance platforms, will culminate throughout the weekend to produce a magnificently metamorphic experience for all. One of Rootwire’s best features is the thoughtful planning that allows for a dedicated workshop time block and no overlapping main stage music sets. With this intentional flow of events, Rootwire once again sets the bar exceptionally high for what a festival can be.

What really puts Rootwire in a class of its own, however, is the spiritual core of the event – the Ceremonial Center. A thread that weaves through every aspect of the festival community, the Ceremonial Center offers a diverse array of expert-facilitated workshops, meditations, presentations, interactive classes and healing sessions – all included in the price of the ticket. Past workshop topics have included: holistic health, environmental conservation, integrative healing, sound healing, visionary leadership, sustainable living and cultures, yoga, social awareness and growth, among many others.

Every year, Rootwire’s Ceremonial Center is committed to maintaining a safe place for personal and community expansion and co-creation while furthering each person’s ability to grow into the greatest possible version of self. Longtime director Julie North, whose practice is based in Columbus, says this conscious expansion covers a lot of ground.

“It’s my job to maintain diversity in our offerings, and I try to do so while keeping a pulse on the current interests and needs arising in our Rootwire family’s lives, in and outside of the festival,” North said of the work she has passionately brought to the event for the past six years.

Rootwire works to share information about the latest positive change tools available. In response to an increasing interest in natural lifestyles and sustainability, the festival offers expert guidance and practical instruction. Past workshops include: “How to Build Your Own Solar Generator”, “Making Your Own Herbal Salves” and “Foraging and Fermenting Your Own Food”.

Another remarkable feature – and one completely unique to Rootwire – is the dedicated Healing Area where professional practitioners offer a variety of healing and expansion services free of charge to all with unlimited visits. Practitioners are trained in disciplines such as massage, body work, reflexology, Reiki, ortho-bionomy, myofascial release, sound healing, crystal healing, and much more.

In addition to live performances and educational opportunities, Rootwire features an on-site art gallery, which displays finished pieces and prints, as well as projects being made on the spot, bringing visual artists from all around the globe together to share their vision and energy. Performance and visual artists for 2018 include Anthony ‘Flowers’ Ward, Krystle Smith (Krystleyez) and Keith Prossick, among many others.

Rootwire is offering more unique performance and visual arts than ever before, allowing flow artists, aerial performers, live painters and dancers to be fully immersed in the musical performance while also being an equal and featured part of the experience!
