An evil prince (Price) barricades himself in his castle as a defense against the plague but his lascivious pastimes ultimately lead to his doom. One of the most visually stunning of Roger Corman’s gothic Edgar Allen Poe films – largely due to the phantasmagoric cinematography of Roeg.
