Event Description

"The Black Cyclone" is the story of the first, black, professional football player in America, Charles Follis. He was raised in Wooster, Ohio, had the ability to captain and start the Wooster High School Football team, and later play for the Wooster Athletic Club Team--where he earned the nickname "The Black Cyclone". The play was written by local playwright Jim Stoner, and chronicles Charles life, and he overcame the hardships of the game on and off of the field to impact  the game forever.  He became the first ever black football player when he was hired to move to Shelby for $10.00 a game in 1902.
