Event Description

Stop by the History Center for some Holiday Cheer with Andy Masich!

Join History Center President and CEO Andy Masich for an illuminating afternoon with the director, screenwriter, and co-producer of the “The Current War” – the recently-released film about the efforts of George Westinghouse, Thomas Edison, and Nikola Tesla to electrify the world.

The script for the film, which features Hollywood stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Michael Shannon, and Tom Holland, was written by Pittsburgh native and Fox Chapel High School graduate Michael Mitnick.

Mitnick will join Masich, director Alfonso Gomez-Rejon and co-producer Jayne Sullivan for an engaging conversation about the history and myth associated with the famous “War of the Currents” – a struggle for superiority between direct current (DC) versus alternating current (AC).

They will also explore the challenges of making a major motion picture involving complex historical characters, along with Pittsburgh’s role in the story.

The event will be complimented by film clips and the audience will be encouraged to participate in this lively afternoon that will surely spark a discussion.
