2023/2024 Field Trips: Pioneer Programs


*DOES NOT Fort Edmonton Park General Admission Access


The wait is over! Book your 2023/2024 Guided Field Trip at Fort Edmonton Park today!


You can book up to 30 students per class, please see our FAQ page for recommended adult:student ratio per age category.


If you're booking for multiple classes, you must register on a separate booking. 


*Please note teachers and adult volunteers are included in the field trip pricing, for up to 8 adults. Additional adult attendees are an added cost.  


Availability: October 10th 2023 - April 26th 2024 (Monday-Friday)


And May 22nd 2024 - June 21st 2024 (Monday+Tuesday)


$315 (+GST)



  • All programs are 2 hours in length

  • Off-Season Field Trips are available for bookings from October to April (Monday-Friday) + May 21 to June 18 (Monday-Tuesday). Do not include General Admissions to Fort Edmonton Park as the Park is closed to the public.

  • Payment is due upon booking.




Program One: Surveys and Settlements


You and your class are the newly elected town council in Edmonton. Help plan out what Edmonton needs for its future, respond to the needs of different communities in Edmonton, and visit some of the historic locations and learn about key historic figures that were integral in shaping what Edmonton looks like today. Use your imagination and problem solving skills to solve issues in early Edmonton and compare your solutions with the historic ones.

Program Two: Pioneer Pursuit


Early Edmonton is booming! Are you ready to make your life here? Step back in time and  join us as we lead your class through the life of an early pioneer: chores, a school lesson, and entertainment. Through hands-on activities, students will experience life in early Edmonton. They will be encouraged to compare and contrast their lives with those of pioneer children and make the decision: is early Edmonton the place for me?
