Event Description

The New York Public Library and Pinko Magazine present Amber Hollibaugh, Barms of Red Bloom, and Che Gossett in a conversation about the gay revolutionary press and what its legacy means for queer movements today.

News of the Stonewall uprising galvanized gay revolutionaries around the world, resulting in an unprecendented number of new queer publications and media exposure. As gay, lesbian, and trans groups began organizing and publishing magazines, newsletters, and newspapers to build new political collectivities, they took strength from Stonewall, the Black Panther Party, and Third World movements. Today, we are witnessing another publication boom as queer radicals innovate new journals, magazines, and web resources. Join Pinko Magazine at The New York Public Library for this panel and discussion.
