"Winner of the International B-Jazz Competition and Winner of Best Solist Prize, the Philippe Lemm Trio is continually proving to be one of the most exciting and electrifying jazz trio's around today. Comprised of three musicians with exceptional command of their instruments, the group's repertoire draws heavily from re-imaginations of jazz standards in a way that both defies genre and corresponds to any modern jazz fan. The group uses their trust and understanding of one another's musical tendencies to create passionate musical soundscapes, which range from traditional jazz to the progressive rock/classical-influenced music. Hearing the trio is a special and unforgettable experience, and you will be captivated after listening to one piece."

The trio has performed on stages like the North Sea Jazz Festival, Blue Note Note NYC, Kennedy Center, Ronnie Scotts, Pori Jazz Festival and Concertgebouw.

A word from Philippe Lemm,

Exactly 1 year ago, during a European tour, we started with the recording of a new album at Power Sound Studios in Amsterdam and First Steps became the result.Angelo lived a very full, giving and productive life. He also lived his adult life with anxiety and depression. We want this album to be a beautiful and uplifting memory of him. A tribute to his incredible playing, his beautiful compositions and his never-ending love for music.Through the sales of this album and the merchandise we want to create more awareness for mental health by donating the profits to the National Association of Mental Illness. It’s bittersweet to finally hit the road again and to play Angelo’s music without him being there with us.His spirit will be with us and these concerts will be a tribute to him and everything he gave us. Addison Frei will play with us during these concerts and has done an absolutely amazing job in learning the music.

This performance is made possible with the support of Jazz Road, a national initiative of South Arts, which is funded by the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation with additional support from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
