Our Family Makes a DrawBot!

Saturday, November 2nd from 10am to 12pm at the Solar House.

Free. Supplies Included. Program for Youth Ages 7 and up. Parent Participation Required.

Join Marcia Roth, who will guide your family in the design of your own DrawBot from simple, inexpensive materials. Your DrawBot will not only move around, but with the addition of a marker, it will draw a path wherever it goes! Each family team will be able to design, build, test, and improve their own DrawBot. In the process, you will build a basic circuit that includes a motor, identify conductive materials, explore how a circuit works and get a better understanding how energy can change from one form into another.

Instructor: Marcia Roth, an instructor of science and math at Catholic Central High School, has collaborated with the Westcott House since the museum opened to the public in 2005. She has presented multidisciplinary projects that blend engineering, math, history and design to elevate her students' learning experience and connect them with their community. Marcia is a Clark County Excellence in Teaching award winner. She currently teaches subjects ranging from 8th grade Computer Science to Physics to Calculus I and II. She is a dual credit high school / college instructor for Clark State (math) and University of Cincinnati (engineering).

This program is part of Westcott Design Hub, a design education initiative generously supported by the National Endowment for the Arts, Ohio Arts Council, Turner Foundation, Springfield Foundation and Ruth B. and Thomas F. Mackey Charitable Trust. Your tuition directly supports free family, youth and in-school programs that are part of this program.
