One Hundred and One Nights

Varda was invited to make a film celebrating the 100th anniversary of the birth of cinema and the result is this whimsically chaotic film. Monsieur Cinéma (played by none other than the great Michel Piccoli) is approaching his 100th birthday. Dismayed that his memory is failing him, he has hired a young student to tell him stories of the films that he created in his youth. Meanwhile, a cavalcade of international movie stars arrive to visit and congratulate the old man on his milestone.
