Deakins notes that the visual style of this film is more-or-less ‘realistic’; though that doesn’t diminish the beauty of the photography and lighting design. In this contemporary film that has shades of both film noir and the Western, a man (Brolin) runs across a suitcase full of money and bad things follow – including the implacable killer Anton Chigurh (Bardem).
