Hear directly from National Aviary experts as they share stories about their work—both behind-the-scenes and in the field—giving you a sneak peek into their daily lives. Each lecture will feature a different topic, and the audience will get the chance to have their questions answered by our experts during the presentation! “A Day in the Life of a Zoo Veterinarian!” with Dr. Pilar Fish, Senior Director, Zoological Advancement and Avian Medicine | Friday, August 28th | 7 PM EST
What’s it like to spend your days providing medical care for more than 550 birds and animals that call the National Aviary home? Pilar Fish, DVM, will give you a behind-the-scenes look at the National Aviary’s Teaching Hospital. You’ll meet feathered friends like Milo, a Call Duck, and Bam Bam, a Red-legged Seriema, each with their own individualized care plan, specialized diet, and custom-made habitat. Dr. Fish will talk about the day-to-day work of the National Aviary’s veterinary staff, the state-of-the-art facilities they work in, and their favorite bird stories.
