Event Description

Nelia Kukovalska discusses her work as Director General of St. Sophia of Kyiv, the largest museum complex in Ukraine.

Registration for this event has sold out. A limited number of standby tickets may be available on the day of the event.

The St. Sophia of Kyiv National Conservation Area comprises six museums of mostly monastic buildings in and around Kyiv. The crown jewel of the group is the St. Sophia Cathedral. A designated UNESCO World Heritage site, it is arguably one of the most important Christian shrines in Western Europe and a monument of Ukrainian architecture. As the war in Ukraine persists and Russia continues to launch missiles at Kyiv, Director General Nelia Kukovalska considers Ukraine's rich cultural heritage and the crucial, complex labor of preserving it—and how partnerships with libraries bolster their work.

To join | Please register for an In-Person Ticket. Doors will open around 1:30 PM. For free events, we generally overbook to ensure a full house. Priority will be given to those who have registered in advance, but registration does not guarantee admission. All registered seats are released shortly before start time, and seats may become available at that time. A standby line will form 30 minutes before the program.
