Mirror Trio: Studio Jazz Series

Where the adventurous energy of John Zorn meets the refined precision of Webern, this trio blends improvisation, intricate compositions, and bold sounds into a unique musical experience.

Mirror Trio is a veteran Pittsburgh-based experimental music ensemble known for its immersive explorations in drone and noise. The trio comprises cellist Ricki Weidenhof, bassist Jeff Weston, and keyboardist Jason Belcher. Their performances are characterized by deep listening, dynamic improvisation, and a commitment to pushing the boundaries of sound. Mirror Trio has been featured in performances supporting Bill Nace, Tatsuya Nakatani, Gabriel Zucker, and Till Jarvis.

Joining the ensemble for this special performance is guest artist Christopher McCune, a drummer, percussionist, and vocalist based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Most recently, McCune has contributed to recordings by Wild Onion, Odno Okno, Dendritic Arbor, Locks and Dams, Bear Skull, Dreme, and the Trimm-McCune duo.
