little match girl passion

Winner of the 2008 Pulitzer Prize, David Lang's little match girl passion tells the beloved Hans Christian Anderson story in the form of a passion, (telling a story while simultaneously commenting upon it) taking direct inspiration from Bach's St. Matthew Passion.  Leading to this moving modern masterwork will be works of Bach, Bernstein, Pärt, and others featuring PSO principal flutist Lorna McGhee and violinist Maureen Conlon-Gutierrez.  Audience members will be invited to explore the history of Homewood Cemetery including a section of unmarked graves and the lost voices that are laid to rest there.
